Questions Parents Ask
Frequently asked
Is this a gap year program?
In a sense, yes. Many students take this year between high school and what comes next. But it is not a year off. It is a full year of college-level study, 30 credits taught by pastors and scholars, designed to ground your student's faith before college, work, or ministry.
Will the credits count toward a degree?
CBI has transfer agreements with partner schools including Biola University, Boyce College, Cedarville University, Moody Bible Institute, and The Master's University, each with its own equivalencies. Credits can also build toward CBI's own associate or bachelor's degree. See Transferability for details.
Is CBI accredited?
CBI is licensed by California's Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education to offer state-recognized certificates and degrees under the religious institution exemption. It is not accredited, which is why CBI maintains formal transfer agreements that give students a clear path to complete an accredited degree at a partner school.
What is expected of students?
Students attend class and weekly chapel, keep up with their coursework, and agree to CBI's Statement of Faith and standards of conduct. These include academic honesty, a high standard of moral conduct, and no substance abuse, including alcohol. Serious or persistent departures from these standards can lead to dismissal.
What does the $15,000 cover, and is aid available?
It covers tuition for all ten courses and both study trips. CBI offers scholarships for One-Year Bible Program students, including the church matching scholarship of up to $1,500 per year.
Can we visit or talk with someone?
